Lo nuevo que nos trae Nutanix con la 7.6 y un gran acierto Dell PowerStore!!
Dell PowerStore Comes to Nutanix Cloud Platform
Dell and Nutanix have extended their partnership again: PowerStore is now supported on Nutanix Cloud Platform, available with NCI 7.6, with validated deployment and lifecycle management delivered through Dell Private Cloud.
This makes PowerStore the second Dell storage platform to integrate with Nutanix, after PowerFlex — giving Dell the broadest infrastructure portfolio available for Nutanix environments today.
Why it matters
Organizations adopting Nutanix want enterprise storage performance without losing the operational simplicity that brought them to the platform. This integration is designed so Nutanix teams keep managing their environment the way they already do — from Prism — while gaining external enterprise-grade storage underneath.
What Dell Private Cloud with PowerStore delivers
- Independent compute and storage scaling — each scales on its own track based on real workload demand, with PowerStore's Dynamic Resiliency Engine allowing growth one drive at a time.
- 6:1 data reduction guarantee — always-on deduplication and compression consolidate more workloads at lower cost.
- Cyber resilience options — from asynchronous replication to Metro synchronous with zero RPO/RTO, plus long-term retention and cloud archival through PowerProtect Data Manager.
- Automated, validated deployment — AHV deployment blueprints, full-stack lifecycle orchestration via Dell Automation Platform, and Dell system-level hardware support for the whole stack.
What Nutanix brings
- Modern virtualization at scale with AHV as a built-in, simple, secure hypervisor.
- A cloud operating model for the datacenter — unified management across compute, storage, virtualization, and DR through Prism.
- A future-ready platform supporting virtualized, cloud-native, and AI-ready workloads side by side.
🆕 What's New in Nutanix Cloud Infrastructure (NCI) 7.6
The PowerStore integration lands as part of a broader release — AOS 7.6, AHV 11.2, and Prism Central 7.6 — that focuses on scale, resiliency, and day-to-day operational simplicity. Here's what stands out.
Scale and capacityAll-flash NVMe deployments now scale up to 307 TB per node, and hybrid node capacity increases to 270 TB for greater storage density and more efficient cold and warm data tiers. High-density systems can now scale to 40 EDSFF NVMe drives per node. This is particularly relevant for customers consolidating large VMware estates or hosting AI, analytics, and database workloads.
External storage — including PowerStoreNCI 7.6 adds native support for Dell PowerStore as external storage for Nutanix compute clusters, and enables disaster recovery for PowerStore, including synchronous and asynchronous replication and live migration between clusters. External storage can now also be managed directly from Prism Central, with no need to switch to Prism Element, and all reported health conditions for attached external storage are surfaced to simplify troubleshooting.
Resiliency and availabilityA new 1 Node / 2 Disk (1N/2D) fault tolerance option lets teams balance resilience against usable capacity, while expanded 1 Node / 1 Disk fault tolerance for larger clusters reduces storage overhead. Compute cluster availability also improves, with services recovering automatically after multiple node failures when using external storage. Two-node AHV clusters can be expanded to three nodes with a simple node addition.
SecurityController VMs and Prism Central now run on RHEL 9 for a more secure platform foundation. Secure Access gives administrators centralized control over SSH access and support sessions, and Controller VM security protections extend to Nutanix Cloud Clusters (NC2) for more consistent security across deployments.
Management and everyday operations (Prism Central 7.6 / AHV 11.2)
- Copy and paste into the AHV VM console — one of the most requested features — is finally here, making long passwords, license keys, and scripts far easier to enter.
- VM Profiles let teams deploy consistent virtual machines in a few clicks instead of configuring each one manually.
- Cluster Profiles apply storage configuration and policies across multiple clusters from a single place, reducing configuration drift.
- Image and OVA uploads are redesigned with progress indicators, resume after interruption, and better reliability for large files.
- Nutanix Guest Tools can now be configured directly, without mounting a virtual CD-ROM (AOS 7.6+ with NGT 4.5+).
Data protection and platform housekeepingEligible protection domains are automatically upgraded to Autonomous NearSync, cutting manual administration, and VMware vCenter Server 9.0 with ESXi 8.0 environments are now supported. Worth planning for: Nutanix has announced the upcoming deprecation of legacy APIs (v0.8, v1, v2, and v3), with migration guidance toward v4, and usage restrictions now apply to unlicensed clusters after defined grace periods.
The takeaway
Analyst firm Omdia noted that Dell's automated approach "reduces operational overhead while maintaining compliance with Dell's tested and supported configurations," and concluded that the combination "positions IT teams to support current workloads while preparing for AI-driven transformation."
For customers, this is infrastructure freedom in practice: choose the right platform per workload, manage it with the tools your team already knows, and back it with a 14-year partnership that keeps expanding.
Getting started
Dell Private Cloud with PowerStore for Nutanix Cloud Platform is available now with NCI 7.6. If you're modernizing infrastructure, evaluating hypervisor alternatives, or looking for enterprise storage performance in a Nutanix environment, it's worth a conversation with your Dell or Nutanix representative.
